About Us
An International Paper Company with a strong local presence in Utah, Zellerbach is a hometown company that’s part of an international distribution network. Our core business has traditionally been printing and packaging. However, we also excel in value-added services, such as in-house facility maintenance.
History
The roots of our company stretch back to 1868, when Anthony Zellerbach started a fledgling company called the House of Paper. The name was changed to Zellerbach Paper Company in 1907 when sons Jacob and Isadore came on board.
In 1916, the company expanded into Salt Lake City, Utah. The family continued to stay involved for many decades through various mergers. International Paper purchased Zellerbach in July of 1998.
Culture
Though we’re part of a large parent company, Zellerbach culture is that of a close-knit family. We have about 60 employees, and in addition to providing them with the tools they need to do their job well, we also treat each member of our team with respect. We’re very proud of our impressive record of employee retention. In fact, our average tenure is about 18 years.
Full-Circle Integrity
One thing that’s never changed through the years is Zellerbach’s commitment to integrity. Simply put, it’s a big deal to do things the right way—the first time. Zellerbach management sets the tone, and it filters down to every single member of the team. Our people take a great deal of pride in their work: They care about the little things, and take the time to work with customers until the job is finished. As a result, we’ve been rewarded with an extremely loyal client base. However, the folks at Zellerbach don’t believe in resting on our laurels: Every day is a new day, and new chance to go to bat for our customers.
Community Involvement
Whether it’s donating distressed inventory to schools, sponsoring needy families during the holidays, or encouraging our employees to participate in fundraising events, Zellerbach is always looking for ways to engage with the community. We’ve also developed good working relationships with area schools, and often send our people into classrooms to teach about things like paper selection.
Safety
We take safety very seriously, and we’re proud of our excellent safety record. Each employee is on a safety committee—whether it’s warehouse safety or office ergonomics—and we’re working toward our
OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) designation.
