Chain of Custody

Printers are becoming increasingly familiar with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), and Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) on-product labels. When you see these labels on a printed piece, it represents a claim that the paper was manufactured using wood fiber sourced from sustainably managed forestlands. The authenticity of that claim is supported by a “chain of custody” certification, which means that the sale and transfer of that product has been documented from the manufacturer, to the merchant, and ultimately to the printer.
Chain of Custody Certificates
Zellerbach became CoC certified to the FSC and SFI standards in 2007. In 2008, Zellerbach added PEFC certification.
